Northern Radiator Potential Delays in Transportation

Our first wish is that this communication finds you and your business doing well. In the last 18 months I think all of us have experienced every up and every down possible. While earlier this year, with vaccinations rolling out and our economy opening up, it finally felt like there was the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Our economy continues to grow and unfortunately that has caused some extreme woe on the supply chain and logistics areas of business. No doubt you have heard of the influx of imports into the US from countries around the world that has caused container shortages. With that influx in imports, there has been major strain at every US port, strain on labor, equipment, and on space. From there, the rail yards that bring product to the interior US are overwhelmed, not to mention the shortage of container chassis. And last but not least, as product being shipped across the country surges, Freight and Logistics companies are at their capacity. This has added up to extreme delays and lead times in product arrival.

What does all of this mean? There are two things we want you to take note of… Inventory / Shipping delays and Product Pricing. We want to assure you that Northern is doing everything we can to get our product in the door as soon as we can, doing some very out of the box and creative thinking to get it delivered as quickly as possible. With the influx of imports and freight companies at near capacity, delivery times in parcel and LTL shipments now and over the next several months are likely to take longer than previously experienced. Northern commits to getting all orders out the door as soon as feasibly possible, but please understand that once it is on a carrier, there are things that are out of our control which can affect how soon it is delivered to you. Secondly, since 4th quarter 2020, we have seen freight costs continue to rise and then soar. At this time, there does not appear to be an end in sight. While we have had to take price increases this year to deal with freight increases along with raw material increases (which we participated to a large degree), we will likely be revisiting them again shortly as freight prices are climbing at astonishing rates. Sure, it would be nice to tell the brokers, ship-lines, and freight forwards to go pound sand when we get quotes, we cannot do that. Our focus and priority is to have product here to serve you when you need it. These issues are not unique to the heat transfer industry. Every industry across the US is seeing this same thing happen and are taking similar steps to mitigate the effects of these issues on their business.

We wanted to reach out early as we continue in the 3rd quarter and look to the 4th quarter (read: Holiday Season), and alert you as to what you may experience with service disruptions, freight delays, and inventory outages. As we navigate these challenging times, here are a few tools Northern offers to keep in mind:

  • Utilize our new “Best Way” shipping feature on our website—just select “BEST WAY” at checkout and we’ll help determine the best shipping method to get your item(s) to you in the fastest, most cost-effective way.
  • Take advantage of our free freight offer on orders of $3000 or more to save money on freight costs.
  • When time is of the essence, let our expert staff help you. If you have a hard deadline or critical need, give us a call and we’ll do everything we can to assist.

As Northern needs to make changes to our approach, we will be in touch, keeping you informed. We thank you for your support of Northern Radiator. We look forward to the continued opportunities to prove we are YOUR SOURCE!
